 The
Top Gun Sprints made their fifth visit of 2012 to Bubba Raceway Park on
Saturday June 16, 2012 for the third of the wing races. There were 20
cars at the track to give fans three heat races and a 25 lap feature
race.
Colin Cabre in the 12
car had the pole with Shawn Murray in the 22 on the outside for the
start of the BROWN & MILLER heat race. Colin took the lead on the start
and as the laps clicked down it was Robbie Smith took the lead and the
win. The G6 of Brandon Grubaugh had the pole for the DMI heat race, with
Gene Lasker in the 02 car on the outside. On the start Gene took the
lead and never looked back and took the win. Matt Kurtz in the 92 car
had the pole with A J Maddox in the 3A for the start of the ELLIOTT’S
TRAILERS & CARTS heat race. A J took the lead and the heat win.
The 83 of Mark Ruel
Jr. had the pole for the start of the K & N FILTER feature race event,
with the 3A of A J Maddox alongside. After a parade lap, A J had a left
rear tire go flat he came to the infield but had no spare so that ended
his night. That moved Robbie Smith to front row the race went to green
and it was Robbie that took the lead till lap 14 Mark got around Robbie.
After a yellow flag, on lap 16 the 88 car of Andrew Griffin spun, but
able to restart. Then on lap 19 the 38T of Tyler Godwin spun and ended
his night. On the restart the 83 of Mark Ruel Jr. would hold on to the
lead and take the checkered flag, followed by Robbie Smith in the 6S
car, Matt Kurtz in the 92 car, Colin Cabre in the 12 car and Ryan Partin
in the 14 car rounding out the top 5.
The staff and
racers of the Top Gun Sprints would like to thank everyone for their
